Work Diary- Shoot 1, Initial Response

Evaluation
In todays session the aim was to take photos of the topic we want to go into. I wished to pursue in evidence and the shoot would determine if we felt it was ideal to continue with it. So as we went out taking photographs there were lots of different shots that could have been used to show evidence, it was quite diverse as there were quite a lot of things which could be suggested as evidence. I managed to capture a wide variety of photographs which I felt portrayed evidence. I think as a while the shoot was quite an open shoot as there were many different photos which would portray evidence and it allowed me to think what area of evidence I want to go into.

The photo above is of a pair of shoes but on the tips are some dirt and wet patches which could be considered as evidence of the weather or evidence of age. I think that although the photo is quite simple, the editing of it allowed for certain areas to be enhanced such as the patches on the tips but also contrast in the light across the frame which causes form.

In this photograph the evidence is the 3 empty bottles which show that they have been used. I like the composition of the photo because of the straight angle but how a sense of distance is created through the image. Within this frame are many different elements which include contrast, form and reflection.

Progression

As I progress further in this topic I need to narrow the topic down, from doing this shoot I have some clear areas of focus which will show evidence. I have several possible ideas which I would like to explore; the idea of human presence and also age. In age I would concentrate on the idea of progression and development of old to new. I would possible do this by looking at buildings or people of different ages and items associated with them. For human presence I would look at the idea of litter, lost items and just anything associated with humans, for example a footprint in a natural environment. Over the next few weeks I intend to explore both of these ideas and some others as well before I decide on the pathway I'd like to take throughout this unit.
