Evaluation
In this session, the aim was to collect more photographs in the selected topic of the unit, evidence. From going out last session I had some idea of what I wanted to focus on in this shoot, the idea of human presence and age. In this shoot I went to collect photos in a different location to the college campus where I thought there would be more material which would correspond with my topic. From looking at photos prior to going out and shooting, I has one idea of a pay phone which I was able to recreate and capture, also the idea of neglect was able to be captured throughout this location. From doing this shoot, I have collected a wide range of photographs which show the different ideas I had planned on doing.
I like this photo below which was taken from the shoot because it is of a neglected building and I feel that this is evidence of age and human presence. I feel that this photo shows depth and contrast in light, going from darker to lighter.
This photo has been largely influenced from the brief research taken from the internet prior to the shoot. I was able to recreate a similar photo which I feel is very simple but shows evidence of human presence and also use. I like how the angle captures the whole unit of the pay phone and throughout the frame contrast is present.
This is another photo which I captured in todays shoot and it is of another neglected building. I feel the angle it is taken at manages to capture many of the features of the building which are associated with neglect, for example boarded windows. I feel that this photograph shows the idea of age but also the idea that there was once human presence at this location.
Progression
From doing this shoot, I have a clearer idea that I do in fact wish to pursue with my idea of showing evidence through age and human presence. In this shoot I enjoyed looking at the older buildings so in the next shoot I will focus on abandoned buildings and features of neglect such as rust and damage.
